Welcome! For me, River Garden Studio, my journey as an artist, writer and teacher, is a place to celebrate creativity. Using words, photographs and art I am portraying a part of my world. Please browse through my entries, my photos and my paintings and perhaps be stirred enough to be more creative in your own world. Feel free to share your thoughts with a comment or to send me an email!
This large square painting is called "Beyond the Lace Curtians," consists of layer over layer of paints and mediums. I even used part of an antique place mat in the curtain. It is sold, but someday I would like to do another similar. I miss it!
I found this bench at an outdoor crafters fair. I attached a metal arch to it which I painted with a mixture of yellow ocher and burnt sienna. It sits in the flowers underneath a pear tree... I like to photograph still lives both inside and out.
Fresh flowers are always and inspiration. In the winter I get small bunches from the market. I collect colored vases and pitchers and enjoy the process of design and the way light plays on the image.
Welcome again and enjoy your visit!
Hey Roxanne,
When I tuned into your blog tonight I was immediately taken by surprise seeing those two photos you took of me after John passed. I appreciate the fact that you took them NOW; I just wasn't in the mood back then and tried to be a good "subject" for your shots as I trust you (you were great with my mom trying to take care of me at that awful time.) I'm liking the background of the rattle and drum behind me still, So, you're making me want to paint more!
I loved seeing your Mum, Steffie, Greg and your dad again in those photos on the day of Greg's wedding in Ashland. Grego's wife is beautiful. You have a beautiful family. I also think you're having way too much fun!

Beyond the Lace Curtains is an amazing piece of art. The colors are so soothing and the layers & textures call to me.

Roxanne,
Thank you for the OWOH re-present. I shall begin by offering it back to you. Beyond the Lace Curtains is extraordinary. This time it reminded me so much of the Matisse painting, "Open Window, Collioure." In both, it is clear the way the beauty of the colors outside can be felt profoundly inside the room.
Fondly,
jodi

Hi Roxanne,
I love the new top banner you put on your page! It's fun to see a progression of complementary works put together like that. Also love the addition of your music, some of the artists I wasn't aware of and really enjoyed. Thanks!
The sun is peeking out today - what a relief!

Great photo of the oak table in your studio!
The Seduction of Water book looks interesting.
I'm reading a book I got at the library recently, Loving Frank. It's about Frank Loyd Wright's life and a somewhat fictional account of a life-long love affair he had with a married woman. It's hard to put down.
I'm just loving your site!
