I...am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday,
this is the birthday of life and love and wings...
e.e. cummings
I discovered an old,
much loved book high in a closet,
and the title was so perfect for this post
and how I am feeling.
Inside were beautiful photographs
and quotes by e.e. cummings
and I joined him in quietly celebrating
the sun's birthday
and the unfolding of a dream.

This last week amongst spring's renewal
and flower blossoms
I found out that
North Light Books
has accepted my proposal for a book
that I and my editor Tonia Jenny
have worked so hard on
for several months.

.... no heart can leap,
no soul can breathe
but by the sizeless truth
of a dream...
e. e. cummings

We live our life,
finding wonder where we can,

High in the mountains
where fish fly...
we dream our dreams
and sometimes they come true.

During these times
we need to pause and take it all in,
during this very special time.
And I did, at the home of this person,
high in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Here garden and art are together intwined.
And what could be better
than a day
creating with friends?
Then to top it off, I had a wonderful workshop at
A Work of Heart
in San Jose.
Please see more photographs
of beautiful works of art here.
Driving home with Lorri's sweet sister Jan,
I stitched leaves and made bundles,
of hand-dyed fabrics and botanical prints.

And when I got home I started getting ready
for my workshops
at Sage Place in Bandon, Oregon.
And Pacific NorthWest Art School, on Whidbey Island
here and here.

At home my own garden
reaches upward
to celebrate the sun's birthday as well.

White blossoms from the pear and cherry trees
fly like paper snowflakes.

Bird baths are filled.
And even the dandelions
are set free...
as each tiny seed follows it's own
dreams,
just like us...

Please read this interview by lovely Rebecca Brooks
about more of my dreams and what art means to me
as we plan for my workshop,
A Book of Wanderings
in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico...
