There is a quiet hope
that fills me
this first month of the year
deep in the heart of winter.
It is a hope for light,
for the yellow glow of the sun.
It is the hope for surprises
and hidden delights.
Small bursts of life and color.
A hope of days filled with creativity.
Winter flowers from the market.
Staying warm when the world outside
is frozen.
In my studio I have been experimenting
with books and windows and doors.
Framing and stitching and attaching.
With colors and layers.
Always watchful of the world around me.
Inside and out.
Landscapes,vessels and colored backgrounds
are made
in preparation for this workshop.
Painting with encaustics on old pieces of wood
just for fun.
For me there is hope
in the silvery wings of a butterfly...
And the white of the world outside.
De callada esperanza...
During this month of January
I wish you moments
of quiet hope and golden dreams.
