......
changes happen so fast
today the sky seems larger and more luminous
river waters are gray
then silver and finally blue again
fallen leaves protect what is underneath
they find their way into my kitchen
today, wrapped in a coat
I ate my lunch outside
one flash of sunlight came and went
and the thought of winter
made me both happy and sad
in the evening I went out
on the front deck after dinner
and said goodnight to the stars
I looked upward and then out from my perch
and knew that soon I'll be needing
my snow boots on
for the wood was icey under my bare feet
the days change
the colors change
my art is ever changing
this is what I've been doing with my days
can you feel the change?
i have a new workshop coming up this
Saturday, November 9
at Sage Place in Bandon Oregon
We will be making encaustic triptychs on wooden panels.
Encaustic painting and collaging is a wonderful way to watch changes happen right before your eyes.
I would love to share with you my processes.
And don't forget my online workshops on the top of my sidebar... especially this one which begins in the spring and will be too magical to miss.

Also, I am so sorry about the inconvenience, but because I have been getting so much spam you will need to sign in before you leave a comment. I hope this helps get rid of spammers and isn't too complicated!
Oh all these images immediately inspire creative thinking Roxanne. A treasure trove of beauty. And those stitched roots are brilliant. Brilliant I say!

Beautiful Roxanne
I love the colors of fall and the leaf stitching. I would like things to slow down an bit so I can play with the wonderful leaf and rust printing that everyone is having so much fun with!

Autumn seems all the more beautiful in your area, what with river, fields and wildlife! These workshops sound wonderful...learning, sharing and a good amount of laughter! Good luck with all your classes and yes, I can see your art making evolving, changing in a lovely way!

Your images are so infused with sunlight and nature.. your connections between your work in your studio and nature outside is very strong.

I can feel the change. I too feel both sad and happy...no, maybe happy is too strong, but comfortable somehow about this change. How beautifully you are celebrating the transition.
Cozy creating in the dimming light !

Beautiful images, and words. I have been a bit frantic internally and having trouble allowing my creativity to work through me. This helped.

OK, you have convinced me - rust and leaf bundles -- how hard could they be?
The results are beautiful.

What lovely words at the start of your post here. Ron and OI are madly getting pre-winter chores done here- most all of our leaves are gone except for the oaks. Beautiful picture of your work.
