There is a freshening
downtown Klamath Falls.
The street trees begin to bud
I notice a building I never saw before,
though I drive by it almost every day,
I guess I didn't notice because all the other buildings are brick and this one is so pale.
There is a freshening of my spirit as I use my watercolor paints,
a freshening of light on the ground.
Birds land and alight again
and again,
outside and in.
"alight" (unfinished)
Today I am watching the world change,
so much rain
has been so good for the earth.
Oregon fields change colors. Old farmhouses fade but still stand tall.
I hold on to the image before it is gone.
Inside again,
my worktable changes, I move objects around,
like I am child in her playfulness.
New work with my new eyes,
still the bird waits...
I am forever waiting too.
"just be"
At last,
winter has lost her heaviness.
Spring is sweeter,
I celebrate a freshening,
May you feel spring's freshening
in your own heart.
