Here in my part of Oregon winter has returned with full force and I had to dig out my warm snow boots again.  Even the house seems cold.

 

 

 

I have been writing in my journal and reading new art books...

 

 

 

Art at the Speed of Life by Pam Carriker.  It is an amazing book, filled with so many new ideas, and features the amazingly talented Seth Apter and many other great artists!

 

 

And Creative Illustration Workshop, recommended to me by my dear friend Lynne Hoppe.  This book fills me with wonder and smiles.

 

 

I've been wandering around taking photographs...

 

 

 

outside and in...

 

 

still captivated by red

 

 

And empty amber colored bottles as they reflect on the dining room table

Someday they will be filled with flowers!

 

 

as spring returns

As spring returns at last I am relishing the sunshine

everything seems to say 

this is a new beginning

 

my paintbrushes, jars of gesso and paint, a worn, empty surface

 

I put small objects put together 

and watch the color come back to the river lands out of my windows

a touch of green under the brown

I am still painting mountains and skies

 

my watercolor paints are still bright

and paper soak up the colors greedily

Today a simple heart, a gesture, a smile can fill me with love

and love is what i send to you for valentines day...

in a way of my own

February begins at last

I find myself exploring the outskirts of town

Never knowing what I am looking for

Only knowing it when I see it

The windows that hide behind branches

Small objects

Still I wonder

I hold on to images

and make landscapes across pages

 

I watch the mountains and the changing skies

seeing the broken 

 

the crushed

and somehow I put it all together

in a way of my own...
