inspired by A Sand Country Almanac by Aldo Leopold
If I were the wind,
I would send down the butterflies
I would bring color into every heart.
The song birds
would find a place in every soul.
I would gently blow a pine cone off a tree
and on to a windowsill,
and every pine needle would have a purpose....
If I were the wind I would blow through time
and swirl yellow images through your home.
If I were the wind,
you could even taste me...
You could taste the seasons,
the years,
the centuries...
for I am ageless.
When I am fierce you would find shelter
with your pillows and your books.
Or in a red bowl...
If I were the wind I would splatter color
across the canvas of your heart.
breezes would be memories
and you would never forget
your first teacher
so happy in her paints, so happy in her flowers...
in your soul forever...
