Summer windows are green.
They promise shade, long grass,
They say look out at the sky,
look out into the light
but look inside for a place to rest.

A friend and I explore the railroad district of Ashland, Oregon
Windows there are old and quaint.
Windows call us to look inside at the art.
These pieces are by Ronna Neuenschwander
who is inspired by the people of Mali
and mythical creatures with deep cultural beginnings.
Her sculptures can be seen at the
Davis and Cline Gallery .

Another day my son and I explore by the river,
driving down a dirt road,
one we have not been on but very close to home.
Little sheds. Dark graying wood. Wild poppies.
And the White pelicans.
Have I shown you these before?
These birds live in our waters all summer long.
They grace us with their beauty.
So hard to photograph
because they are always moving,
pumping their wings,
in and out of the water
as they herd fish and scoop them up.

And then we are back again
looking out another window...
into the world of summertime.
