Every year in April, Ashland, Oregon has a wine tasting and art gallery tour. On this breezy but warm day I experienced not only the rich and diverse art of southern oregon, but sampled it's wine and delicacies from Ashland's unique restaurants. The best part of my day, however, was walking around this beautiful mountain town and feeling it's love for art, nature and beauty...
Colored glass glinted on outside tables. Laughter carried from one open door to another.
And happy people were everywhere, crowding galleries and street corners...
This was one of my favorite paintings, I love the way the orchid fit with the art. Inside photographs were hard for me to take, especially if the art was under glass.
The streets were filled with flowers...
Color was everywhere, even under my feet... and flowering trees lined the streets...
And, oh... the porches with blooming vines. Wisteria is one of my very favorite.
A magnificent creation called me to stop and look...
reminding me of peace and calm.
and old and new joined down in the railroad district.
Here is the rest of the sculpture...
and another, not quite a peaceful...
Paintings of flowers and fruit filled walls,
I think this man was one of the gallery owners, contemplating life as he served us wine.
This lovely artist said I could take her picture...
Back downtown leaves were bursting out around the tall old buildings...
and we walked through Lithia Park back to the car. This park was designed by the same man who designed the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I spent many days here when my children were little, wading in the shallow water, having picnics and pushing them on swings...
Now it is time to get back to my own art...
