This is the day that comes for me with such relief every year. School is out for the summer! My art room is clean, book shelves are covered with colored butcher paper, drafting tables are all pushed to one side and art supplies are put away. All of the teachers and aids went out to wave goodbye to our students as they rode away on dozens of buses. Cheering them on to there own summers of adventure or rest.
The last month or so of school is pretty crazy for our middle school students, some have tried hard all year to be "good" and can't stand it any more. Emotion's run wild. What a relief it is over...
The egret sybolizes my feeling. I am free to take flight!
Here is a view of our river from my front deck. I have mentioned before, that I can look out at the water from my house in spaces in between the houses below us. When we moved here there were no houses down by the river and I could spend hours watching the birds fly up and down its waters. Now my view is smaller but I still love it.
Here again I am using the little iron chair as a frame.
My first purple iris of June. The originals came from my mother's gardens in Santa Rosa, California. It is amazing how many pieces of her life are here in mine.
And lastly, I had to photograph the basket of lilacs and popcorn balls (?) that were in the center of the table at our end of year party in the school library. Sadly, they are not from my garden...
