Hooked on Houses

Blogbuttonwhitehouse2-1
Julia, from Hooked on Houses is doing a very special blog party where you can tour homes all over blog land!  I couldn't resist joining, because I love to take photographs around my house so much!  Some views are hard because most of our walls are primarily windows, and the outside lighting is so bright. You will see that I love old things and color.   I also tried to include some of my gardens in my shots, as they are such a big part of our life right now.

This is a vase of dried hydrangea in front of the sliding glass door that looks out onto our most beautiful clematis.

Another view of this lovely plant.

The green house window over the kitchen sink with a maple tree surrounding it outside.

Part of my collection of antique perfume bottles. They were a gift from my dear Aunt Claire.  I will post more about them another time.

Another clematis, this one has smaller, majenta flowers.

My drums!  Yes, I love to drum, but have so much to learn still.
IMG_2538
Plates and dishes in one of my cabinets.  I love the colors.  Some are old, some are not.

This painting sits over the chair below. It is on a block of wood and filled with texture and papers.

A favorite wicker chair.  When they get old I put them in the garden.

This is a grouping over the cabinet in our family room. Art and most of the bowls are made by myself.

This is our back patio area.  If you would like to see more photographs there are some in my post "a glimpse of home" from the spring.
Thank you for visiting... and don't forget to visit other tours on Julia's site by clicking on her link on the top of this site!  Roxanne

Roxanne, this post is so full of beautiful things! I felt like I was looking at pictures in a magazine.

I'm so glad you joined our blog party. I'll add your link to the list right away.

I just need you to do two things for me to make navigating the blogs easier for all of the visitors you're going to get:

1) Add a link to my blog button back to my homepage. 2) Add a link at the end of your post to the list of bloggers who are participating. Here's that link:

Hey Roxanne,

The photos are gorgeous and your clematis is breathtaking! I loved viewing the hooked on houses blog. What fun that is! So...let's start an art group. Lynne is visiting me in Ashland next Thursday, want to come? We could paint, whatever. She makes the most AMAZING beads and does very fine small beadwork as well, though she's put the fine beadwork down for the time being...anyway, let me know. I know you'll read this before your e-mail :)

What calls from beyond...

inside the book

  • IMG_2848
"What calls from beyond" is a handmade book that symbolizes my journey as an artist. I have only been working on collages for a while now, before this I have primarily been a painter... Each page is an exploration in texture and design, and each page has a special meaning to me.

My Photo

Paintings

  • Img_0704
This is my current work. Many of these paintings are sold, and some are still available to purchase. They are painted with acrylic, and layered with hand-made papers and different mediums such as glazes, gels and sand. If you are interested you may contact me through my email. With every piece of art I create I learn something new and I like to challenge myself. My mother was my first art teacher. With her I was constantly surrounded by art and beauty.

Teaching moments

  • Img_1079_2
I have had many wonderful moments as a teacher. Wether I am outside teaching nature journaling over the Klamath River Canyon or at Spencer Creek with an adult class of other teachers, or inside a classroom filled with adults or children studying birds and feathers I am always inspired. The last few years I have also been teaching clay classes, and we made had-pressed bowls for the empty bowl project with Henley Middle School. I also teach a class called Art and Rhythm where we study dance and drumming from other cultures.

These photographs portray my world outside, the colors, textures and patterns that I see in my gardens in southern Oregon.

A Year by the Klamath River Watercolors

  • Img_0716
These are sketches and watercolors for a book I am working on which should come out this summer. I still have more to add...
